In a statement published by the European Parliament’s Intergroup on Freedom of Religion or Belief and Religious Tolerance ( FoRB & RT ), they inform of “the presentation of the periodic report published by the Intergroup” which was held on Tuesday 22nd March. The FoRB report, which outlines the “state of the art of religious freedom in the world” and discusses the “European institutions’ actions to protect religious freedom”, was drafted in collaboration with some of the most important associations and NGOs in the sector, involving “different representatives of the faiths, from Christian associations to Baha’i, Muslims and Jews”.
Among the speakers, in addition to the co-chairs of the intergroup Carlo FIDANZA (FdI- ECR) and Peter Van Dalen (EPP), who opened the session, the attendees could find Oksana Oleynikova, director of the Good Shepherd children’s home in Ukraine, who “updated those present on the current situation in Ukraine”, Iannis Argyropoulos, Head of Unit for Asia-Pacific and South Asia Regional Affairs of the European External Action Service; Marcela Szymanski, editor-in-chief of the ”Religious Freedom in the World” dossier at the Pontifical Foundation Aid to the Church in Need and Willy Fautre, Director of Human Rights Without Borders.
